Approving requested apps (Browser Extension / Workspace Add-On)
In many Atlassian/Jira environments, security settings require administrator approval before users can utilize third-party applications like the Jigo Browser Extension or Workspace Add-on. Due to how Atlassian handles app requests, the application must first be installed and a login attempted before an administrator can see and approve the access request.
Important: the following part is only necessary if User Installed Apps are blocked in your Jira instance. An administrator can check this easily by navigating to the Connected apps settings in your site administation page:
If User Installed Apps are allowed , you do not need to follow this guide.
This guide details the necessary steps for both the end-user initiating the request and the administrator granting approval.
Part 1: Requesting Jigo App Access (End-User Steps)
Follow these steps to initiate an approval request for the Jigo app(s). This can be done by any user or administrator.
Install the App: Install the Jigo Browser Extension and/or the Jigo Google Workspace Add-on, depending on which you want to use.
Attempt Login: Open the installed Jigo app and try to log in using your Atlassian/Jira account credentials.
Confirmation (Expected "Error"): You will likely encounter one of the following scenarios:
A notification appears stating you are logged in, but Jigo cannot connect to your instance.
You remain stuck on the login screen after entering credentials.
This is expected behaviour when admin approval is required. This action registers your request with your Atlassian instance.
Contact Administrator: Notify your Atlassian/Jira instance administrator that you have attempted to log in to the Jigo app and require their approval. Please direct them to Part 2 of this guide.
Part 2: Approving Jigo App Access (Administrator Steps)
Follow these steps to find and approve user requests for Jigo applications:
Navigate to Atlassian Admin: Log in to your Atlassian instance with administrator privileges and go to the Admin section (typically found via the settings/cog icon).
Access Products/Apps: Go to Products. (Note: Atlassian may rename this section to Apps).
Select Site: Under the Sites and products section (Note: May be renamed Sites and apps), click on the name of the site where approval is needed.
Open Connected Apps: In the site settings menu (usually on the left), find and click on Connected apps.
View Requests: Select the Requests (or Requested apps) tab or filter view.
Note: There might be a short delay (a few minutes) between the user's login attempt (Part 1, Step 2) and the request appearing in this list.
Locate and Approve Jigo: Look for the specific Jigo application(s) the user requested:
Jigo - Jira for Google Workspace (Browser Extension)Jigo - Jira for Google Workspace (Workspace Add-On)
Click the Approve (or similar) button next to the required app(s).
Part 3: Access Granted
Once the administrator completes the approval steps in Part 2:
The end-user should now be able to successfully log in and use the approved Jigo application(s).
It might be necessary for the user to close and reopen the Jigo app, or refresh their browser/Gmail page, for the changes to take effect.
